About the event

We all need friends, even plants! Learn how to attract beneficial insects like bees, butterflies, moths, and beetles (as well as bats and birds) to your yard by planting pollinator-friendly plants.

In the Peas & Love Community Garden we take care of our garden friends by interplanting with flowers and companion plants and growing plants that attract beneficial insects. Some plants attract bees & butterflies who pollinate flowers, while others repel pesty insects like mosquitoes and gnats and keep the soil free of harmful nematodes.

In this class you'll learn which plant families attract the most pollinators (bees & butterflies!), which plants contain aromatic plant terpenes that are natural insect repellents, and how to feed the soil with highly nutritious "weeds."

Everyone will receive a handout with practical planting information as well as seeds to scatter in your garden.

Workshop is FREE, though donations ($5-10) are greatly appreciated so that…
